We're excited to introduce a Spotify integration in the Jamstik Play Portal. Now you can improvise soloing over your favorite songs with guided scale overlays that populate based on the key of the chosen song! The experience is currently available in Beta, and we welcome any feedback you might have about the integration.
What if I don't have Spotify? Do I need to have a Premium Spotify account to use the integration?
The integration is available for BOTH PREMIUM AND FREE USERS. However, we’d recommend a premium account for the smoothest experience. If you don't have an account yet, you can sign up here.
What if I want to play a song that isn't in a playlist?
You can open up the Spotify web player in another browser, then search and select a song as you normally would in the interface. The song you select will automatically start playing in the Jamstik Play Portal. Just make sure you're logged in, and select "Jamstik Play Portal" on the "Device Connection" section.
How do I adjust the volume of the sounds I'm playing versus the volume of the Spotify backing track?
*Depending on if you're a Premium or Free user, the process is slightly different*
Premium Users:
The volume for your instrument patch is to the right of the Instrument Selector dropdown.
The volume for the Spotify track is to the right of the Spotify track player.
Free Users:
To adjust the volume of the Spotify track, you'll need to open up the Spotify web player in another tab and adjust the volume using the Spotify interface.
REMINDER: You may also need to adjust the volume of your computer.
Can I use the sounds from other apps or programs?
Yep! You can choose to use an instrument patch from another web-based DAW, like Soundtrap, or a DAW on your computer, such as GarageBand or Logic.
Instructions: Open up the app or DAW you want to use and select your instrument patch as you normally would. Then, make sure to turn down the volume of the instrument selected on the Play Portal.
What if I don't have any playlists in my account?
That's okay! We've done a bit of work on the backend to curate a number of tracks to go along with each key. That way, you'll have something with which to get started. If you aren't crazy about our choices, follow the instructions below on how to create and curate a playlist on your own.
How do I make a playlist in Spotify?
The more playlists you have in your account the larger variety of tracks you'll have to improvise along with! Learn more about how to create, follow, and find new curated Spotify Playlists here.
How do I upgrade to a Premium Spotify account?
Spotify offers a 30-day trial for a Premium account. After that, the starting base price is $9.99. Please refer to the official Spotify website for updated terms and conditions.
What if I have other questions about Spotify?
Our team is always happy to help troubleshoot should you have any question regarding the integration. Just send us a chat message on Live Chat, submit a ticket, or drop us an email to support@zivix.net.
If your question is related to Spotify, please refer to the Spotify Support Page.
*Note* - This is an integration with the Spotify streaming platform, not an official partnership with Spotify.
